The city district of Prague 4 is an administrative area of the City of Prague made up, with the exception of smaller local modifications, by the traditional area of the cadastral districts of Nusle, Michle, Podolí, Braník, Hodkovičky, Krč and part of the municipality of Lhotka, as well as part of the cadastral districts of Záběhlice and several houses in Vinohrady. The municipalities of Průhonice , Čestlice , Benice , Říčany , Modletice, Jažlovice, Nupaky and Prague 10 are also located nearby.
The area of today’s city district of Prague 4 has been a sought-after place for settlement since as far back as the Neolithic. The first Slavs evidently first appeared in the Prague Basin in the 6th century, moving through the area of Prague from the North, and thus today’s Prague 4 was most likely settled in the 7th to 8th centuries. Most historians and archaeologists believe that the area of today’s Prague 4 was part of the territory of the future Premyslid state from the beginning.
Prague 4 has a very high quality infrastructure, i.e. modern transport and education, healthcare, many sports grounds and varied cultural life. Extensive accommodation (hotels) and congress capacity is available.
The city district of Prague 4 has been chosen for its incontestable advantages by many important domestic and international companies such as ČEZ, T- Mobile, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Česká spořitelna, Raiffeisen Bank and many others.
